About Holistic and Mindfulness-Based Therapy

________________

Holistic therapy means addressing the mind, body and spirit of the individual. The body is more than a vehicle that transports the brain from place to place. Our bodies filter and absorb our life experiences. Furthermore, our bodies both reflect and influence our emotional state and state of mind. As a therapist I do much more than listen-- I attend to all aspects of the person sitting in front of me.

Mindfulness is about paying attention-- noticing your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations and how each influences the other. Put simply, mindful it is the opposite of mindless. If we are mindful then we do not cycle through our days habitually and reactively, unconscious of why we think and feel the things we do.

While I teach my clients a variety of techniques, it is mindfulness that is woven through every session. Mindfulness takes you out of your old patterns and helps to re-train your brain by shifting your awareness.

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy

In addition to traditional therapy, I also offer Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT). PRYT is a powerful combination of restorative yoga with client-centered Psychology. This work creates a deep connection with your authentic self, promoting release and healing.
